Hair Tips: 10 Ways To Rock Natural Hairstyles

Cynthia Kamalu - BellaNaija - September 2015002

The natural hair community is a very large and interactive one. With so many women with natural hair sharing tips, product information, ideas, stories, merchandise and inspiration with their fellow naturalistas, this community has over time become an interactive one.
To give our amazing BN Beauty naturalistas inspiration for the weekend, we have photos of one of your own – TV personality Cynthia Kamalu.
Cynthia has been natural for a while now and is very vocal about her natural hair and the natural hair life. She has been one of the many to promote natural hair and a healthier way of living in Nigeria.
So, we decided to share some of our favourite natural hairstyles from this naturalista who cares a great deal about her hair. Here are 10 looks from Cynthia we hope will inspire you and your next look.
Check it out!
The Side Pompadour
There is something so elegant about this look. The side pompador adds a regal look to any outfit. We love the size she went with completing her look with a large puff parked at the back.
Her makeup is classy with long lashes and a red ombré lip. Overall, it is pretty look.
Crochet Braids
Cynthia Kamalu - BellaNaija - September 2015003
We love every aspect of crochet braids, especially the fact that you can do it yourself.
This looks is quite lovely on Cynthia – it’s fun, flirty and helps frame her face. Not to mention the fact that it’s a great protective hairstyle too.
The Bun
Cynthia Kamalu - BellaNaija - September 2015004
Putting aside the fact that this hairstyle works great as as an easy go-to look, it is also uber-fab.
Cynthia wore this for her natural hair campaign, and looks all dolled up in a bright yellow lip, statement eyes and matte skin. It’s a definite ‘yaaasss’ for us.
The Braided Pompadour
Cynthia Kamalu - BellaNaija - September 2015006
This is a natural hair community fave. It’s easy (once you have your braids done) and can be rocked to a number of occasions.
We especially like this look because it does not take the attention off your face, and is easy to achieve.
The Puffy Mo Hawk
Cynthia Kamalu - BellaNaija - September 20150010
If you’re the rebel, this look is perfect for you. It’s fun, funky and can last for a long period of time.
We love the edge this look brings and it can take your outfit from ‘blah’ to ‘cool’ in no time.
BraidsCynthia Kamalu - BellaNaija - September 2015005
What would this post be without at least one look with twisted braids? Cynthia looks darling here with twisted braids in black. We love the versatility of braids, but she decided to tone it down, and simply went for a laid back but sweet look.
Puffy CornrowsCynthia Kamalu - BellaNaija - September 2015009

This is old school, but we are currently loving it. It is very different and has clearly stood the test of time. If you’re looking for a head turner, you might want to try this out.
Even though it may not last for more than 2 days, it takes only a few minutes to achieve and will make you stand out of the crowd.
Cornrows
Cynthia Kamalu - BellaNaija - September 2015
If you’re looking for something pretty & simple, this look is for you. This hairstyle is basically cornrows finished off in 2 jumbo braids.
It’s simple, stylish and can even be rocked to work.
The Semi-Hawk
Cynthia Kamalu - BellaNaija - September 2015008
This look is an upgraded version of the mo-hawk. It is uber-cool & fierce and will give your outfit an edge. Although we are feeling it, we think the mo-hawk has a more feminine vibe to it. What do you think?
Wool Threads
Cynthia Kamalu - BellaNaija - September 20150013This takes us way back. It is quite unconventional for today’s woman, but is still a favourite of ours. You can easily style it like Cynthia, to create a bunch of different looks. Or have it in one style and rock it for weeks. This is definitely one to try out.
