Akua Tokunboh, Miss Ghana USA 2014 is not your ordinary girl. She is a young pharmacist of Ghanaian and Nigerian descent and the current Miss Ghana USA she serves as a role model to many young girls of minority. Akua moved to America when she was 15 years old. She currently resides the city of Wichita right in the heart of the United States.
Over the course of the Akua’s year of service as Miss Ghana USA, she logged approximately 31,000 miles traveling across the country and to Africa to address an array of audiences on her platform: “Diabetes Awareness and Education.” In Wichita she has spoken to audiences ranging from Middle school students school to Corporate Sponsors. In Ghana she organized a Diabetes Workshop in the Ghanaian town of Ahwerase, where she spoke to members of the community and community leaders as part of her efforts to address the dire need for proper management and awareness of Diabetes.
