Uganda police stripped female opposition leader naked while arresting her

The woman being stripped and dehumanized while being arrested by Gen. Yoweri Museveni's police in Uganda is Zaina Fatuma a member of the Forum for Democratic Change's (FDC) National Executive Committee.

The police had blocked the party's presidential flag-bearer Dr. Kizza Besigye from traveling to Western Uganda, on Saturday 10 October 2015, to attend an FDC party function. The party members were ambushed by police, roughed up and detained for hours by General Kale Kayihura's brutal police forces.

Some of those arrested were released only after the intervention of foreign diplomats who are closely monitoring the rapidly deteriorating political situation in Uganda in the run up to what many Ugandans are calling "sham and already rigged" presidential elections scheduled to take place early next year.

Police in Rukungiri where Besigye was supposed to speak even chased down and arrested young men who wanted to paste his posters on buildings and trees; the police almost sparked an uprising and Besigye supporters forced them to release the arrested men.

Free Uganda (FU) and Platform to Rescue Uganda (PRU), the freedom and pro-democracy campaign organizations, led by General David Sejusa are calling on Ugandans to focus on dismantling the despotic Museveni regime, instead of gracing and giving credence to Museveni's sham and already rigged elections.

The Ugandan dictator has totally refused to allow any political and electoral reforms that would have made the elections free and fair.

Unless the heinous and anti-democratic regime of Yoweri Museveni is dismantled immediately, Ugandans will continue to witness and experience this incredible barbarism that is designed to sow fear and widespread intimidation at a time when growing numbers of brutalized and grossly dehumanized Ugandans are begin to loudly demand for their constitutional freedoms.

Uganda, as a nation, is at the cross roads. With Museveni still in power, the country will continue to slide towards the political abyss.

But Ugandans have the option of saving their Motherland. It is becoming more and more evident that however brutal and barbaric Museveni's regime may be, it is at its weakest since coming to power 30 years ago. Of recent, the ruling NRM party has endured serious and explosive rifts that have seen many top ruling party leaders abandon Museveni to join the opposition forces.

Without doubt, this is the time for all progressive and patriotic Ugandans to come together in the maturing struggle to liberate the country from the claws of Museveni dictatorship.

Any regime that treats a woman in the manner done by Gen. Museveni's police as the photo shows should not be in office.

This is not the first time either. Police similarly molested Ingrid Turinawe a top party official when they arrested her.
