All public sector workers will enjoy a 10 percent salary increase effective January 2016, the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations Haruna Iddrisu has confirmed.
The increment comes after several months of negotiations between members of the tripartite committee made up of government, the Employers' Association and Labour and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.
Hon. Iddrisu speaking on the Citi Eyewitness News Friday also stated that the country's minimum wage has been increased from seven cedis to eight cedis which also takes effect in January 2016.
This represents a 14.3 per cent increase in the minimum wage.
The Employment minister, however, warned that government would ensure the strict compliance of the latest increment to ensure that no employer pays a worker less than the agreed minimum wage.
