The Transport Minister, Dzifa Attivor has revealed that rehabilitation works on the Adomi Bridge will be completed before December 2015. The project which began in March last year involves the replacement of the entire deck and all the hangers and ropes that support the 56-year-old bridge. The about 13 million Euros project will provide the connection route for an average of 120,000 people cross the Volta River daily to and from the eastern corridor and Northern Region of the country.
It was initially scheduled to be completed by October but government could not meet the deadline. Speaking at the Meet the Press series on Wednesday, the Minister however urged the general public to exercise patience as works on the bridge nears completion.
“I have been told the works on the bridge will be completed by the end of this month or November. I don’t have the specific date but I know before Christmas the bridge will be opened to traffic so let us exercise patience.”
