The acting Director of the Information Services Department (ISD), Mr Francis Kwarteng Arthur, has been relieved of his post.
Mr. Kwarteng has been under intense pressure in the past few days after he took responsibility for the printing and distribution of error-ridden brochures for Ghana’s 59th Independence Day anniversary parade.
Pictures of the error-ridden portion of the brochures which captured the President of Kenya as Ghana’s President, as well as other typographical and grammatical errors, have been awash on social media, with some Ghanaians and Kenyans ridiculing the government for the mistakes.
The dismissal comes barely a day after workers of the department petitioned the head of the Civil Service and the President, to sack Mr. Kwarteng.
A statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Debrah, also indicated that the Ministry of Communications assumes responsibility for the FlagStaff House Communications Bureau.
